Did Crosby become captain too early?

Just curious. During this slump the Penguins are in, he has shown some shaky leadership. He has taken more penalties, has appeared more whiny, and lets face it...gotta respect the willingness to fight, but he is not a fighter, and those "fights" have turned out to be embarments. It seems that the pressure of being the official captian and leader of the Pens may be a bit much for him.
