Question about being blind (I'm writing a novel)?

Why not read 'Emma and I'...its a book by a blind woman about her life, and her guide dog. This should give you a really good insight into the world of being blind, and the ways they tried to sace her sight. It will also give you all those litttle details about how blind people cope that you would never think of.
