Movie title help please: Movie Starring Ricky Schroeder, and an alaskan dog, during the gold rush era. please

in this movie Ricky Schroeder found this abused and severly beaten dog, and they became inseparable. He was searching for gold in the Alaskan wilderness during the late 1800s. I can't remember the dog's name, but i think it is the title of the movie. I tried googling this, without any success, guess I didn't put in the right words.
